Description
I have so many memories in this corner of the Lakes. It’s a gentle landscape, generally speaking, compared to the grandeur of the higher fells just a couple of miles to the south. Yet here, there are little pockets of excitement everywhere you look. I’ve had great days learning the ropes with friends on the various exposed walls of rock that protrude from the trees here and there down the valley. Relaxed summer days mooching around by the river with Mum. Explorstions of the fells back in the early days of the Wainwright-bagging shenanigans. Yet, of all those times, the autumn days prevail in the mind most pertinently. The explosion of colour here is quite wonderful and if you can find a quiet spot just a short way off the beaten track at this time of year, then it’s easy to get lost in thought and imagination amongst it all.
